Look for your keys where you dropped them, not where the light is

It’s night time and a man is crawling around on his hands and knees, looking for his car keys underneath a lamp post. A woman comes along and starts to help him. After they have been searching together for a while the woman asks the man: “Are you sure this is where you dropped them?” The man replies: “No, I think I dropped them somewhere else.”“Then why are we looking here?” she inquires.“Because this is where the light is.”
We choose to search for solutions to problems where it is easy to find them, not where it is logical.  I learned this story in religious studies class where the story is a bit more symbolic. It implies that we all are looking for keys; keys for happiness, freedom, God, or peace.  Surprisingly, we will look for this key by seeking power, success, and wealth. In reality, the key was lost inside and the light appears to be outside.  If the key was lost within, it must be searched within.

Ok, now that was a bit intense. But the story begs a question: What is your key…and where have you been looking for it?
